Monique Willms

Monique and her family have called Estevan home for the last 18 years and she has a long history of seeing her surroundings in creative ways and adding whimsy to the mundane. A constant need to explore and adventure has allowed her to seek out hidden gems in our area and cultivate ways to enjoy and engage every season in the South East. As a photographer, former teacher, current homeschooler, illustrator and speaker Monique is excited to help showcase all that Estevan has to offer.

I grew up as a hockey player and was away from my hometown, Estevan for a lot of my childhood. I moved out of my family house at the age of sixteen and lived in Weyburn, Saskatchewan with a billet family.  After I graduated high school there, I travelled to Calgary, Alberta to study RTBN (Radio Television and Broadcast News) and pursue my hockey career at SAIT Polytechnic. I received my Diploma and decided to continue my hockey career at the University of Saskatchewan. Once the season was over, I realized I missed my home town and wanted to start my adult life in the city I grew up in. After so many years of being away, it is nice to be back with my family, friends and community.

I’m so happy to be home and get to experience the skills I’ve learned along the way with you all.

Throughout my 31-years of life I have lived in Estevan for 28 of them. I moved to Regina for 3 years and realized there is no place like home.

I am looking forward to sharing my interests with the folks of Estevan, which include coffee, my dog Kaiser, the outdoors, staying active, and being selectively cheap. There are some great options in Estevan if the last three appeal to you. I spend quite a bit of my free time working out at the track at Affinity Place, utilizing the equipment at Fresh Air Fitness, and touring the trails and walking paths throughout the city.

I think my personality shines through in my experiences and hope you enjoy my wit and sense of humor.

During my 18 years in Estevan I spent most of my free time dancing at the Drewitz School of Dance. I love meeting new people, taking walks and exploring Estevan.

Michaella Matthies

Hello, my friends of Estevan & Area!  I was born and raised here in the wonderful city of Estevan, Saskatchewan! My parents Lynn and Mark had 3 kids. My two brothers Calvin and Logan and of course, myself. I am the last bird left in the nest as both of my brothers are moved out and are building beautiful lives with their significant others. A little over a year ago, my brother Calvin and his girlfriend, Amy, welcomed their son into the family, Madden Matthies.  Over the last year, being an auntie/God mother to such a sweet, playful, and ticklish little boy has been a total dream come true.

I was blessed with a great childhood. I spent a lot of my childhood playing many sports, but my focus being on female hockey.

I graduated from the Estevan Comprehensive Highschool in 2017 and I plan on attending school to become a Stenographer/Court Reporter.

This is my first summer working for the City of Estevan tourism booth and I cannot express my excitement enough! Although I was raised here in Estevan, there is so much more for me to see and experience. Keep up with me and my experiences this summer by reading my blog posts and watching my videos! I encourage you all to do your best this summer to experience something new here in Estevan!

During the school year, she attends the University of Saskatchewan where she is working towards her Bachelor's degree in Commerce with a major in Marketing.
