How is my tax bill calculated?
Each year, City Council approves the amount of expenditure required to support City services. From this amount, sources of revenue other than property tax, such as; license fees, user fees and provincial grants are subtracted. The balance is the amount raised by property taxes.
Municipal property taxes are calculated using two factors:
- Current years municipal budget
- Estevan’s total market value assessment
Tax Rate = Total Revenue (budget) required from property tax divided by the Total Assessment.
