The City of Estevan welcomes comments and communication on our social media channels to help increase awareness and understanding of our municipal government’s standards, events, activities and programs.
Please note that the City’s social media channels are not monitored outside of regular business hours. We aim to respond to relevant questions and comments in a timely manner, but we are not able to engage in all topics of conversation, and therefore reserve the right to use our judgement in choosing what messages or comments we reply to. Social Media Moderation
The City of Estevan will not respond to comments or messages that are of the following nature, and reserve the right to hide or delete such content:
1) Irrelevant/ Incorrect Content: Comments or messages that are not topically related to the City’s services/ events/programs and/or the post in which the comment was made. In addition, factually inaccurate information or information posted to mislead readers.
2) Discriminatory Language or Harassment: Includes personal attacks on an individual or specific group, and content that promotes, perpetuates or fosters discrimination on the basis of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, record of offenses, marital status, family status, disability or the receipt of public assistance.
3) Promotion or Conduct of Illegal Activity: Includes content that conducts or encourages illegal activity, does not comply with municipal, provincial or federal legislation, or content that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems.
4) Profane Language or Sexual Content: Includes profane or abusive language, and content that is sexually explicit or links to content that is sexually explicit.
5) Copyrighted Materials: Content that may violate the legal ownership interest of another party than those that posted the content.
6) Commercial Solicitation: Content that is commercial in nature for the purpose of advertising/sales.
7) Personal Privacy: Content that invades a community member/staff/city council member’s privacy, and/or the misrepresentation or impersonation of another party than themselves.
8) Anonymity: No content will be posted to any of the City’s social media channel by members of the public anonymously. All comments made on a City channel shall be from a business, organization or individual whose contact information is fully displayed on their account.
Violation of these terms may result in the deletion of comments or messages, limited access to the City’s social media accounts, account users being blocked, and/or reported users. This action may be taken with no formal warning to the user. It is at the sole discretion of the City of Estevan of what constitutes inappropriate content and reserve the right to remove such content at any time.
The views expressed by external users on our social media channels are not those of the City of Estevan or its staff members, and we disclaim all liability from any and all content shared.
Changes or Modifications: The City of Estevan reserves the right to change this disclaimer at any time.
