Taxes in the City of Estevan
Property taxes collected from residential and non-residential properties are one of the various revenue sources available to the City of Estevan to pay for municipal services.
Property taxes in Estevan assist to pay for such services as:
- Police and fire protection
- Road maintenance and snow clearing
- Parks and swimming pools
- Neighborhood infrastructure
How is my tax bill calculated?
Each year, City Council approves the amount of expenditure required to support City services. From this amount, sources of revenue other than property tax, such as; license fees, user fees and provincial grants are subtracted. The balance is the amount raised by property taxes.
Municipal property taxes are calculated using two factors:
- Current years municipal budget
- Estevan’s total market value assessment
Tax Rate = Total Revenue (budget) required from property tax divided by the Total Assessment.
