South East Cornerstone Public School Division was officially formed in 2006 with the amalgamation of 6 school divisions in Southeastern Saskatchewan. The Division is rural/urban in its geographic structure with thirty eight schools in twenty seven communities and an approximate enrollment of over 8,200 students. With headquarters nestled in Weyburn, SECPSD serves communities from the Manitoba border in the east, to Ogema in the west, to Rocanville and Fillmore in the north and the United States border in the south.
The Division encompasses a wide area of southeast Saskatchewan and sits gracefully on approximately 31,000 square kilometers, roughly the size of the Vancouver Island.

 

The amalgamation of Estevan Roman Catholic Separate School Division No. 27, Weyburn Roman Catholic Separate School Division No. 84 and St. Olivier Roman Catholic Separate School Division No. 12 took place effective January 1, 2004 to form the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division # 140.

The voluntary amalgamation came about after several years of sharing professional and educational services among the three School Divisions. The three former School Divisions were similar in many aspects, the main and strongest similarity being the education of students within the Catholic faith dimension.

The Estevan Area Literacy Group, a non-profit organization was started in 2007. It is a registered charity and focuses on English as a Second Language programs and services along with family and early childhood literacy. Also, the organization is developing programs and services related to workplace, adult, and aboriginal literacy.
