The Good Neighbour Award is presented by the Community & Leisure Services Division and City Council to individuals, families, or organizations that mindfully improve our community.
NOMINEES
Individuals, families or organizations that make a difference in Estevan by helping others, beautifying our city, participating in volunteerism or actively demonstrating what a “good neighbour” means to themselves and others in our community are eligible for the award.
Not sure if someone qualifies to be nominated? Do you know someone that:
- Clears a neighbour’s sidewalk, driveway or window after a Saskatchewan snowstorm — without being asked.
- Checks in on an older neighbour, someone living alone, or someone who may need a little extra help.
- Brings garbage or recycling carts back from the curb for a neighbour.
- Keeps an eye on a neighbour’s home, collects packages or waters plants while they’re away.
- Helps with yard work, raking leaves, mowing grass or other seasonal chores.
- Welcomes new residents to the neighbourhood and helps them feel at home in Estevan.
- Offers a helping hand when a neighbour is sick, injured, grieving or going through a difficult time.
- Shares a meal, baking, garden produce or a cup of coffee simply to brighten someone’s day.
- Picks up litter or takes extra care of shared spaces simply because they take pride in their neighbourhood.
- Helps someone get to appointments, pick up groceries or run important errands.
- Checks on neighbours during extreme cold, heat, storms or power outages.
- Helps shovel around a community mailbox, fire hydrant or another shared neighbourhood space.
- Quietly does good things for others without expecting recognition in return.
Makes you think, “Estevan is a better place because this person is my neighbour.”
RECOGNITION
Honourees will be invited to be recognized by City Council during a regular council meeting where they will be awarded a token of appreciation from the Mayor. Names of recipients will also be listed on the City of Estevan website and shared on social media.
NOMINATION
- Nominations will be accepted year-round for the September 2027 award. For 2026, the nomination window will close on Friday, October 30. th
- Nominations must be submitted by a current or former Estevan resident or current City of Estevan employee or Council Member.
- Residents of any age are eligible.
- The award is intended for Estevan residents, but special circumstances may be granted if a nominee resides in another community but has an established positive impact on the City of Estevan.
- Current City of Estevan employees or current elected officials are not eligible for the award. Family members of employees/elected officials are eligible, but may not be nominated by current employee/elected official that is a family member. Self-nominations are not eligible.
- From 2027 onwards, past recipients of the Good Neighbour Award are not eligible.
- A complete application form must be submitted.
