More changes coming to the Weight Room

The Estevan Leisure Centres’ Weight Room will be closed on November 5th through the 10th and is slated to reopen on November 11th. This closure will allow for staff and contractors to preform some of the upgrades that the Weight Room Committee has chosen to make their first focus.

Something Fang’tastic is coming to the Affinity Place

City of Estevan Leisure Services Division has been busy planning and preparing to Velcome you to Affinity Place. Affinity Place will be transformed on October 31st for a FREE Halloween Event for all ages. Admission is by donation of a non-perishable food item for the Salvation Army food bank.

Wild Parsnip located in the Pleasantdale Valley

A small, isolated patch of Wild Parsnip has been located in the Pleasantdale Valley. The plants have been treated with herbicide for control. The plants are still standing while the herbicide takes its course

SaskEnergy’s Tune-Up Assistance Program (TAP) now accepting applications

SaskEnergy and its Network of plumbing and heating contractors are teaming up to promote the importance of maintaining natural gas space heating equipment through this program. Specifically TAP helps low income homeowners by providing a hands-on examination of a home’s heating equipment to make sure it is ready for the onset of cooler temperatures.

Increasing risk of West Nile Virus

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is warning residents in southeastern Saskatchewan that the risk of West Nile virus infection is increasing. This past week, some of the mosquitoes (Culex tarsalis) caught in surveillance traps were found to be infected with West Nile virus.

Communities in Bloom Judges Coming to Estevan

The community will be judged on 6 different criteria; tidiness, environmental action, heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscape and floral displays. Points will be awarded for each criteria with the possibility of receiving a grand total of 1,000 points.
