FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE // June 3, 2024

Estevan, SK ( June 3, 2024) – The City of Estevan council and administration would like to express their support as the future location of Saskatchewan’s first small modular reactor (SMR), following Premier Scott Moe’s announcement on Thursday, May 30th. This future development of the province’s first SMR facility will provide our area, and it’s communities, with an immense number of new job opportunities and expansive economic impact potential.

The site selection will now include further investigation through technical, environmental, social/cultural, and economic studies, however the potential locations have been narrowed down to Boundary Dam Reservoir and Rafferty Reservoir, with final site selection to occur in early 2025.
