Water and Sewer Flushing Program
As part of regular maintenance, water main flushing and sanitary sewer work is done throughout the city. You may notice crews at fire hydrants flushing water down the street or trucks at manholes during the summer.
Flushing water mains removes the sediment that can gradually buildup in pipes. This means that while they’re being flushed, you may notice some temporary water pressure fluctuations and/or water discolouration. If you notice some discolouration, run cold water and it should clear within five to 10 minutes. If the problem persists for more than an hour, call the City Hall at 306-634-1800 if issues persist.
Sewer and Storm Sewer
Sewer flushing helps clean and remove residual debris from sanitary mains, by directing high-powered jets of water through the interior of the pipes.
Flushing trucks release pressurized water through the sanitary sewer main to remove any buildup. During the periods of jetting securely cap basement floor drains.
You may notice an odor in your home from drains. If you do, open windows for a short period of time and run water to ensure all traps are full of water.
Storm sewer will have no effect on homes and businesses.
