The City of Estevan Leisure Services Division is pleased to announce the new summer programs that will be taking place at the RM of Estevan Aquatic Centre over the month of July & August. These programs are designed from feedback from City of Estevan resident’s desires.
There are four new programs; Lifeguard Bootcamp, Mermaid Camp, Adult Drop in Lessons and Blackfin Swim Club.
Lifeguard Bootcamp runs from July 4th to the 27th, every Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-9:45am. Erin Wilson, Leisure Services Program Manager states, “ This program is designed to help swimmers that are 11 year of age and older who may be interested in a future career at the pool. It will get that pre-lifeguard some additional knowledge to prepare for advanced lessons.
Mermaid Camp runs from July 4th to the 25th. Every Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 7:45. “The Mermaid Camp is great for kids aged 8-12. Most kids have this dream of becoming a mermaid, we want to help make it a reality. We provide all the equipment, all you need to supply is a swimsuit.” said Wilson.
The Blackfin Swim Club is a recreational non-competitive swim club that runs from August 8th – August 25th. This club is for children ages 7-18. Swim Monday through Friday from 5:00pm-6:00pm. Wilson explains, “The Blackfin swim club is designed to improve participant’s endurance and strokes. It is led by an instructor with Speed Swimming Experience.”
Adult Drop in Lessons are every Sunday from July 9th – 30th from 7:00 – 7:45pm. “This program is a drop in program that helps adults learn a new skill or practice an old one.” said Wilson. “There is a $10.00 drop in fee so you don’t have to have a huge commitment. You can come a couple times or all four times!”
