Construction work has begun at Kinsmen/Hillside Park for approximately 3 weeks pending weather conditions. During this time, the park will remain open with security fencing around the construction zone. It is important for people to avoid this area until the construction project has been completed. The public is requested to stay away from the south west quadrant of the park where there is heavy equipment and construction workers in this area. Trucks will be utilizing west gate entrance of the park. The play structures and green space in the park is open during the construction. We ask you to use caution and be aware of your surroundings at all time.
As well, please remember all new controlled intersections such as; Dufferin Avenue and George Street North and South bound traffic is required to stop at this intersection, as well a 4 way stop at the intersection of Henry Street and Dufferin Avenue, Henry Street and Banantyne Avenue, Henry Street and Alexandra Avenue for North and South bound traffic required to stop as well as the intersection at Henry Street and Spruce Drive is now controlled by a three way stop.
A reminder Henry Street detour route speed limit has been reduced to 30km/hr. from Dufferin Avenue to Spruce Drive. The detour route is experiencing heavier traffic flows, the public is requested to slow down and obey the posted speed limit for everyone’s safety.
Removing barricades in construction zones is extremely dangerous and constitutes an offence under the Criminal Code as well as the Traffic Safety Act. EPS members will be monitoring the area as well as conducting the enforcement .Anyone caught driving through or moving the barricades, could face serious charges.
We ask you to obey all construction signage including reduced speeds, roads closures, and local traffic only, and men working as well as the detour signage.
We thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time.
