Valentine’s Getaway in Estevan

This Valentine’s day, surprise your partner with a getaway to one of the fantastic places in Saskatchewan! Here are 10 perfect ideas for your Southeast Saskatchewan winter romantic getaway!  Don’t forget to enter the contest at the bottom of this page to win your Valentine’s  Getaway in Estevan!

1. Alone time at Microtel Inn and Suites

Spend a warm, wintery weekend cuddled up in a romantic room at Microtel Inn and Suites. Enjoy the hot tub with your love and enjoy some one-on-one time.

2. Go for a romantic snowshoe walk along the Souris River.

Enjoy a secluded snowshoe on the Souris River. The river provides shelter from the wind and is a great place to see local wildlife. Afterwards, start a fire in one of the fire pits throughout Woodlawn Reginal Park to sip hot chocolate and roast marshmallows.

3. Wine and Dine her.

Grab a bite to eat at Eddie Websters. Their chef’s dream up delicious pairings of house-made flavours. Try their breakfast sandwich which is loaded with house-made maple whiskey bacon jam, sprouts, double eggs and cheese. It pairs perfectly with a beer and clam.

4. That blockbuster movie.

Movie nights for date nights are an easy go-to and the Orpheum Theatre provides new blockbuster hits and classics. One of the best aspects of going to the movies is the food. And by food, we mean snacks. Go ahead treat yourself to a box of M&M’s a large pop, and some hot buttered popcorn

5. Get close at the Bowling Alley.

Bowling dates can be a perfect first date or another great way to connect. Estevan Bowl has glow bowling and electronic screens where you can choose goofy names. Bowling allows you an excuse to show her or him the perfect form by getting up close and personal 😉  Play a question game when you or your date gets a strike or spare you have to ask a question like “If you could meet any celebrity who would you meet?” and so on. Also, between games, they are licenced, and their appie selection is wide.

6. Shower her with Flowers.

Valentine’s and flowers go hand in hand. Petals to the Metal is a great local shop with beautiful flower arrangements and some pretty great take away bundles. Classic roses are a good choice but really type of flowers will wow her.

7. Stroll hand in hand on Preddy Trails.

A romantic walk allows you to concentrate on what’s important – each other. Woodlawn Regional Park provides the perfect stage for you to talk, laugh, hold hands and connect in a meaningful way.

8. The smell of freshly Baked goods

Picture your idea of a nice date, then added fresh-baked pastries. Pleasant scents are said to help minimize awkward situations. Buttercup Bake Shop can help with those awkward silences. Plus, they help with the taste buds too.

9. A touch of red to your wardrobe

Downtown Estevan has plenty of options to spend the afternoon browsing the unique items. Franks and Frankies and Jenny Joans are both local boutiques that have stylish clothing. Get date ready by adding a bit of Red to your wardrobe. Something as simple as adding a red scarf or tie can add a bit of – flavour to your night.

10. The Sasky date

Nostalgia runs high with this date idea, a skating date. Amp it up from public skating to outdoor rinks or even go all out at one of the local bodies of water. Boundary Dam Reservoir or Rafferty Reservoir are great locations to but out the skates, hold hands, snuggle up when you are cold.

10. The Love Photoshoot

HIre a local photographer. There are many photographers to choose from in Estevan. We love Wonder House Creative, and Wanda Harron Photography. A neat idea would be to tell your hunny to get all fancy and surprise them with a photoshoot!
