The City of Estevan would like to advise the public a severe weather system winter storm warning has been advised for 10 – 15 centimeters of snow, rain and isolated pockets of freezing rain with moderate to strong wind gusts possibly reaching 70 km/h starting tomorrow, Friday, March 23 at approximately 12:00 noon and lasting until 6:00 p.m.
As a result of these conditions, be aware of reduced visibility on roadway, slippery road conditions due to falling snow and snow covered roads. The public is encouraged to delay all unnecessary travel until the storm conditions are over. Please remember if you are travelling to be well prepared have an emergency kit with you, dress for the weather conditions and notify someone of your travel plans.
Precipitation will begin as a mix of rain and snow reduced visibility in snow blowing conditions. The weather system is expected to have heavy snow, wet freezing temperatures, freezing rains and strong winds. Winds are expected to pick up overnight.
